By a large stone table in an idyllic garden Engel Astrup sits with an infant in her lap, while another child plays nearby. The blooming apple trees and red roofs create a contrast in the picture, which is otherwise dominated by blue-green tones. Astrup once described this picture as being good, but as with many other paintings, he lost track of who owned it. In correspondence dating from 1926 he sought information about its whereabouts several times, as he wished to have it photographed for a thesis that was being written about his oeuvre.
