About
Nikolai Astrup Online Catalogue Raisonné (2016–2025) seeks to present an authentic and chronological overview of the artist’s artworks. The project has carried out a comprehensive accumulation and digitising of historical source materials that are relevant for the oeuvre. These comprise the major resources of the catalogue raisonné and form the basis for further research on all aspects of Astrup’s artistic career, such as paintings, prints, drawings, textile works and photography.
A major source is Astrup’s correspondence and notes. For the present a large portion of the manuscripts are available in the digital archive with facsimiles, transcripts and authorised English translations. The English edition is a collaboration between translator Francesca M. Nichols and members of the Astrup Research Centre.
The digital catalogue of works will be published on October 1st, 2020, and will enable an ongoing publication and revision of material through the research processes.
The project is fully financed by the Savings Bank Foundation DNB and is conducted by the Nikolai Astrup Research Centre, at Kode Art Museums and Composer Homes in Bergen by Tove Haugsbø, PhD.
