The Artist's Notes
an old picture,
and then lots of restoration work on an old picture, which mother had sold, – (she got it from me many years ago, and now she was offered 2000 for it and wanted to sell it, – but I didn’t feel it should be sold to a stranger, without being improved, – and then I would get 500 kr. for perfecting the picture – doubtful business deal)
And I have struggled and struggled to make art out of it, – to “create” (to make something out of an aw awkward material); – it was especially in order to help mother a little, – she has many difficulties in managing the farm and has intentions to build she too, (and only 1200 kr. in retirement pension).
