Kjære Kramer!

Jeg sender idag nogen træsnit til Kreyberg

deraf er dog to – 2 som Urdahl skal 

have – nemlig "stort fjeld" som frù Höst

kaldte det paa jùbileùmsudstillingen – en 

meningslös tittel som jeg sogte at afmildne

ved at rette det til "juninat og rödt fjeld". 

Saa er det ogsaa til Urdahl det lille "Mai maane". 

Jeg har strævet med disse træsnittene lige siden 

dù reiste og arbeidet hver dag til langt paa

nat – nù er jeg bleven saa forkjölet at jeg 

maa snart holde sengen – da det holder paa

blive til plevrit tror jeg – derfor maa jeg op-

sætte med det store til Kreyberg: "Rævebjælderne" – 

Jeg er saavidt begyndt paa det. – Jeg har en vold-

som feber – her har nù ogsaa været et rigtig forkjolings-

veir: trykkende varme efterfùlgt af sen vinterkùlde og en 

syndflod af regn. Mine arbeidere bygger en dag og "skofter"

den anden dag stadig væk – dù var heldig som fik alt

paa "akord" – bare faa det "skriftlig". ––– Ja jeg

sender disse træsnit ùden karton som dù har foreslaaet

dù faar faa karton hos Wernöe & Gulbrandsen paa

min regning – iallefald til "Kverbilledet" – (lægg ikke

"hvidt" under. – Ja saa er der et St. Hans baal til frù

Breyholtz – Jeg har strævet svært med skidt papir; 

men jeg orker ikke at gjöre om igjen "St. Hans baal" eller

"Kværgangs-veir" förende jeg faar tak i japansk papir – jeg

synes foresten at Kverngangsveir er en af de bedste tryk 

jeg har taget af dette – dù faar overbevise Kreyberg. 

Ja ùndskyld mit rabl – hvordan blir det

med Petra? – Hvad tid kommer dere hid?

Dear Kramer!

I am sending some woodcuts to Kreyberg today

however including two – 2 which Urdahl shall 

have – specifically “large mountain” which Mrs. Höst

called it at the anniversary exhibition – a 

meaningless title which I attempted to mitigate 

by correcting it to read “June night and red mountain”. 

And then the little “Moon in May” is also for Urdahl. 

I have struggled with these woodcuts ever since 

you left and worked every day until late at

night – now I have such a cold that I 

will soon have to keep to my bed – as it is on the verge

of becoming pleurisy I believe – that is why I must de-

lay the large one for Kreyberg: “Foxgloves” – 

I have barely begun work on it. – I have a rag-

ing fever – we have also had cold-inducing weather

here: oppressive heat followed by late winter cold and a 

deluge. My workers build one day and “shirk”

the next day repeatedly – you were fortunate to have contracted everything

for a “fixed price” – just have it put “in black and white”. ––– Well I

am sending these woodcuts without printing board as you suggested

you can obtain printing board from Wernöe & Gulbrandsen at

my expense – at least for the “Milling weather picture” – (do not place

“white” under it. – And then there is a Midsummer Eve bonfire for Mrs.

Breyholtz – I have struggled no end with shitty paper; 

but I cannot bear to re-do “Midsummer Eve bonfire” or

“Milling weather” before I get hold of Japanese paper – I

think by that way that Milling weather is one of the best impressions 

I have made of this motif – you will have to convince Kreyberg. 

Well forgive my scribbles – what is the situation 

with Petra? – When will you come here?
