Kjære frù Meyer

Gratulerer med dagen! og tak for ind-

bydelsen!

resultat – sjönte jeg jo at her maatte arbeides

gjort mig all mùlig ùmak – – havde vi

bare været saa nær at vi kunde talt lidt

om tingen.

Nù maa jeg faa kortene afsted.

Bedste hilsen og gratùlation

til Deres mand

Med hilsen

Deres forbundne

Dear Mrs. Meyer

Many happy returns! And thank You for the in-

vitation! It is impossible for me

to come – as I am occupied with building.

I have been at it day and night since I received

Your first letter and made drafts and sketches

for the cards – I dare say that I have done

my utmost – (slept only 1 hour in 24)

and yet You may find that various

things should be done differently – I just now

in haste made a selection of my proposals for this

use – I so wished to make something really

good for the occasion – but have now

in the end become so tired that I am not

quite myself and can[not] judge everything. –––

I first made The German Wharf – and worked on

that motif for an entire day – likewise with a couple of

others – but when day 3 had passed without a better

result – I understood that it was a question of working

intensely if it was to arrive in time given

the poor connections we have with the postal service.

Let me hear a few words [from you] – I am

nervous and excited to hear whether

You like these things – – I have at least

done my very utmost – – if only we

had been close enough that we might have exchanged a few words

about the matter.

I must send the cards off now.

Best wishes and congratulations

to Your husband

With regards

Your obliged
