Hùsk paa at Kapt.

2 Maaneskin 60

1 hjem fra arb. 35

Kincks: Tussingen paa sæteren 35 40

Gjentagelsestegn Paa isen – vinternat 45

Gjentagelsestegn Sandalstrand ? 80

Gjentagelsestegn Bygdetyvens död 80

Tekst ved siden av prisliste:

Ja dù regùlerer bedst

priserne. – Det er dog feil

at jeg forlangte 150 for sort

"seljekal" af Kreyberg – det var

150 for farvet seljekal –

(80–90 for sort)

milie maa da leve vel – Hilsen fra os alle her din

hengivne Astrup

Dear Kramer!

I am sending today Neumann’s picture and some

woodcuts – it is late – but it may still be fine –

you will find printing board for the “the mountain dairy farm print” at Wernöe & Gùlbrandsen’s (he will give me credit I’m sure)

Remember that Capt. Meyer should have one of the prints –

Would you be so kind as to go up to see him or ask him

to come down to you in order to choose which one he wants – I promised

him that – tell him that the other things have not [been] finished

yet. I should have written to Neùmann but you are better at talking

to him than I am – you find words [to describe] the mystique of a summer

night and golden light, etc. – tell him that I have worked

incredibly hard with this picture and if I have not succeeded

in satisfying his discerning taste now then I never will.

You wanted me to make some “black and white” woodcuts

and one of marigold night – I found some old blemished

Japan paper which I know how to manoeuvre adroitly in order to position the spots

in the black areas [which I] could make some of the Kinck woodcuts

on; – I guess the prices should be: 250 for the marigolds in colour 100 for the

black marigolds (or 80 maybe), mountain grazing farm 150

2 Moonlight 60

1 home from work 35

Kinck’s: The half-wit at the mountain grazing farm 35 40

Repetition symbol On the ice – Winter night 45

Repetition symbol Sandalstrand ? 80

Repetition symbol Death of the village thief 80

Text alongside the price list:

Well you are best at calculating

the prices. – It is nevertheless a mistake

that I demanded 150 for the black

“willow goblin” from Kreyberg – it was

150 for a coloured willow goblin –

(80–90 for black)

Well my friend pardon my scribbles – I am unable to

write today – will write one day soon; – write [me]

what I shall print for you!

Engel and I send our heartfelt thanks to you for your

gift – the bathtub – well we consider it as such; because

the house (lisjehùst) I wonder whether you have not

paid for in advance with things that evi-

dently have been forgotten. Now the bathtub is in the cellar [filled] with

grain that will become Christmas beer – I felt that –

we could just as well do without Christmas beer this year as we

hardly have enough for food – but Engel would like to have it. –

–––

If Neumann does not want to have the picture, then send it

to Didr. Andersen together with the woodcuts and demand

1500 kr. for it – (tell Neùmann that it will not

be sold below 1500 to anyone else but he shall have it for 1200

as per our agreement). It will probably be too late to

sell it during Christmas – but it might improve my credit with

Didr. Andersen if something is delivered there – I am being pres-

sured harshly from all sides owing to debts – any means one has

to temporarily stop the leaks is good. Well may you and the fam-

ily live well – Greetings from all of us here your

devoted Astrup
