Kjære Höst og frùe!

Kùn nogle ord i al hast.

meget for Eders elskværdige tilbùd, men gjör Eder

ingen uleilighed for dette. – Er udstillingen maaske

udsat? Lad mig iallefald faa vide, hvad ùdgifter

Dere lægger ùd for mig i denne anledning, enten det

nù er forsent eller ikke med ùdstillingen! – –

hilsen. Deres hengivne Astrup

Dear Höst and Mrs.!

Just a few words in haste. After considerable

searching, I have found the enclosed paper, – I have not received

any other information regarding the Gothenburg exhibition,

according to this paper it looks as though, the deadline

has long since passed to submit anything – I am very grateful

to You for Your kind offer, but do not inconvenience

Yourself in this matter. – Has the exhibition perhaps been

postponed? Let me at least know, what outlays

You have made for me on this occasion, whether

or not it is too late for this exhibition! – –

I have not heard anything from You since Christmas – did

You not lay out for me for the frame for Korsvold’s

woodcut? Engel and I have been constantly ill this spring –

it is also the worst winter, I can remember – at

least since 1888 – the ice still lies here and mounds of snow, – and

it is still snowing – continuously.

Which of the "marigolds (and a night in June)" did You prefer? the

"blue" or the "grey"? Will send immediately.

It pleases me to hear that You are building a house – but

may I permit myself to offer a little advice – I have been

burned myself: Do not build on another man’s plot or

on a "leased plot", or on any "promised" plot without documents. Our best

wishes. Your devoted Astrup
