Then it seems I must ask you to collect my gold pince-

nez from the optician Solhberg Hansen, – I sent them to him

in January or February, I believe, – but I evidently said, that I

would come by and collect them myself, – I ordered

some very good quality new pince-nez with Jena- or

Zeizs lenses – and gave him a drawing of a new construc-

tion (or rather a model of an old pince-nez, which

I purchased in Paris in 1901, – the only decent one I have had) –

it was excellent to work with – much better

than glasses with arms, which are basically a pain in the neck, – my brother

Johannes almost got cancer or some other foul disease

on the bridge of his nose from such eyeglasses with arms. No a proper

“nose clip” with extra strong coil is best.

The French were obviously quick to understand what was best.

Now the sun is giving off its last rays here, – a couple of hours after

noon, but in a week’s time it will be over, – incidentally it looks

like we will be having an “Indian summer”, after a taste of

winter, – but there is frost during the night – even in the new cel-

lar the clothes from the wash were frozen. At “nesset” the flowers are blooming

with all their might both along the house and elsewhere, – even the elder

has got new blossoms, – likewise a rose bush. Shall we

consider that rowan – and should it be an “elder” or

young one – to begin with it must be pollarded radically, if it is going to survive

being moved. Should Johannes ^St. set up a stone table up there on the

plane? It might come in handy, if you had many

visitors one summer, and there wasn’t enough places to sit outdoors.
